New member of the fire department family. Firefighter Matthew Corbett and wife Heather had a baby girl Kathryn Julianna Corbett borned Aug. 20, 2017. She is also the grand daughter of Chief Corbett.

Firefighters responded to a 2 vehicle accident on HWY 805 across from Store Hill. EMS was paged earlier and on seen. Firefighters assisted EMS and traffic control and removed debree from the roadway. Firefighters remained on scene until vehicles were removed.

A tractor trailer carrying coal overturned on US 23 South on the mountain. On arrival firefighters assisted with traffic control. Firefighters checked the driver for injuries. The truck began to leak fuel.

Firefighters responded to a brush fire on Crown Hill. On arrival firefighters utilized a deck gun from Engine 9 to extinguish the fire around the structure. Firefighters then utilized hand tools to extinguish the fire on the hillside.

1) Early morning firefighters were awaken to an automatic aid fire in Neon at the old Library. Ladder 27 and 22 responded. Ladder 27 was used for an aerial extinguishment while firefighters were used to check the interior of the next door building and exposure work.

Early morning fire in Marshals Branch brought Jenkins and automatic aid from Neon Fire Dept. On arrival, one structure was fully involved and a garage had one fire on one side and the back hillside on fire.

Police requested fire units to assist with traffic control on US 23 on mountain. Snow had made road slippery and several vehicles had went side ways and became stuck. Road was closed until the state highway arrived with salt trucks.

Firefighters responded to an EMS call at the stone quarry. On arrival , firefighters found employees performing CPR and using the AED. Firefighters assisted until EMS transported. Training and quick response by the employees should be commended.

1) Firefighters were awaken in the early hours for a structure fire on Bayview Drive in Payne Gap area. Units responded to find one structure fully involved and an exposer. Engine 20 attack line was used to cool the exposure and then attack the fire.
