New member of the fire department family. Firefighter Matthew Corbett and wife Heather had a baby girl Kathryn Julianna Corbett borned Aug. 20, 2017. She is also the grand daughter of Chief Corbett.

Residents notified City workers of a foamy substance in Elkhorn Creek. Workers searched the are for possible source. EPA and Fish and Wildlife notified. Fire Department was told to dike the creek. 3 separate locations were dike.

Firefighters responded to Forest Hills to a structure fire in the early morning. On arrival the structure was fully involved. Firefighters attacked the fire and contained it in the structure. The fire was extinguished.

Gas smell was reported at Giovannis' Pizza. On arrival building and area checked. Building's windows opened for ventilation. Source of the smell came from neighborhood behind store. Someone was changing a gas tank on a tractor.

Fire units responded to Hardees for a possible fire. Firefighters found smoke in building and used a thermal imaging camera to investigate. No fire was found and it was determined that the smoke had come from the air unit fan.

1) Firefighter assisted male after falling. No injuries. 2) Firefighters responded to an alarm activation at a residence on Lakeside Drive. On arrival it was found everything was OK. Grease that was being warmed began to smoke activationg the smoke alarm.

Virginia Forestry had a controlled burn on the border. Apparently a log had rolled and set another fire. Engine 9 was pulled and firefighter watched the fire and kept the fire from spreading to cabins.
